This #NationalFragranceWeek we look into the history of the house of Parfums Grès.
Returning from a trip to India where she discovered a new world of scents, Alix Grès decided to launch a perfume in 1959.
After strolling along the sandy beaches and sensing the surrounding nature and aromas, she returned to Paris with an array of exotic impressions deeply imprinted on her mind and heart.
She used these memories to create a perfume that would reflect her own personality. A fragrance with a seductive chypre accord and a bold name meaning stubborn that encapsulated Madame Grès’ personality in a bottle and represented all headstrong women who were ‘caboche’ themselves.
"Cabochard to be a tribute to all women who, as I do, jealously guard treasured, heartfelt memories of a voyage to the far ends of the world."

Throughout its long life, Cabochard has appeared in several shapes and designs although certain signature elements have always been present.
The bow was the original link between perfume and fashion and it made its appearance wrapped around the first glass bottle in 1959. It has adorned every edition of Cabochard and has always been the main visual signature.
